Ancestry just turned up a "hint" that made my year. I found the marriage record of my German immigrant, whose wife was Elizabeth ... And I had a possible surname for her. Turns out it wasn't correct. But better yet, the record stated they were from the same town in Germany!

These are people I've been researching for DECADES!!!!!

I've found tiny newspaper entries from ancestry.com that I wouldn't have been able to organize search terms on otherwise. Not any items that I've waited decades for, but little tidbits that make the stories more clear. Jumping over to the "Old Country" really drops down the records though.

Yeah, that's awesome. I recently posted how I accidentally stumbled upon a photo of my great grandmother. This is something no one else in the family has (she died when my grandmother was only about two years old), so it was quite the find.

Just connected yesterday with a distant relative who may have some tidbits about the ancestry in my dad's side of the family. Ancestry.com has its flaws, but stuff like this wouldn't be possible without a website of its caliber.

On a move, I lost all the pictures of my grandmother. But I found someone who has not only her picture but her cousins and the immediate family. This is worth all those deductions from the account.

That's wonderful news!! A lot of people bash Ancestry, but I keep a constant membership because I'm on it nearly every day, and they keep adding new records. It's worth it to me.

Ditto. I have a few complaints about them but ultimately, their records database is worth the money for me.
