I have been trying for so long to find more information on a part of my family, but I have found very little. So, I'm going the route of looking for a genealogist that specializes in areas of East Texas to OK (Red River to Choctaw/Durant area).
There is Native American blood in my family, but I can't find anything official that states this; I have found nothing within the Dawes and Freedman lists. It's near impossible to trace any further back than my great-grandfather, he is listed as Mulatto for awhile and then later Negro on the census...all anyone knows is that his mother was full Choctaw and his father was a slave.

If anyone has any recommendations for genealogist who specialize in those areas, I would very much appreciate it or just a point in some direction.

Do you have an Ancestry subscription? They have a link to some professional genealogist and I'm sure direct contact will tell you if they work your area of interest.

I would first check with local genealogical and/or historical societies in the communities/counties you want to investigate. They may have more info or can point you in the right direction.

Why don't you do that OP?

You may be amazed what people on here can find for you online. Genealogy research is not as restricted to where you live as many people think.
