Neanderthal man only lived in Europe so it is abosolute rubbish to say that the Australian native is closer to them. I am getting tired of people picking on aborigines all the time. When the white peoples first settled in Oz they were the savages, they killed small babies and children. That is savage backward behaviour wanting to anniailate anyone who is different.

I agree with this and find it odd no one mentioned that Neanderthals ONLY lived in Europe and are not related to aborigines of Australia. They also are not "less evolved" than any other humans. And what is a "throw back?" I don't even understand what that is (stated by another poster) in relation to "breeding" as if they are animals, with non-aboriginals and aboriginals are not a "race." We are all of the human race.
"Comparison with Eurasian populations show that the Australian Aborigines have a similar percentage of Neanderthal genes within their DNA as their Eurasian counterparts, suggesting that any interbreeding occurred before the Aborigines embarked on their colonising journey."
Australian Aboriginals are H.sapien sapien. Their appearance is merely a variation Selected to survive in their environment. No different that Scandanavians selection favored light skins to soak up as much sun as possible. Nature does whatever is necessary to perpetuate continued population. One race. Different face.
