I have a fourth great grandmother who -- at the age of 80 -- had a son. Named him John. She also apparently liked the name because she named three of her sons John.
I actually think I know what happened. Sometimes people "park" people in their trees to remind them to look at them closely. I try not to link trees to research, but sometimes when I'm doing this too tired, I hit the wrong button. And forget to unlink them....
Like right now -- I'm doing this while sick. Bound to be lots of misteaks!

Thanks for the laugh!
That also makes me think, as I've thought many times before, "How many mistakes were made before we got here? How do we know we're looking at the true birth/death date, marital partner, you name it?"
But at some point, you have to just draw the line and be happy you have something -- anything at all -- to reach back to all these people, even if it's wrong somehow. Human error is human; what can you do?
