Do any of you have relatives or ancestors who attended college or high school anywhere in the US? I was able to locate a photo of my grandfather in an old online yearbook from college. That was an exciting find for me, as I have no photos of him.
I tried finding yearbooks for high schools, but had less luck in my search. Has anyone else found some photos this way for their genealogy search?
Thanks, reed303, that is an informative link; I've bookmarked it. I believe in time more people will scan yearbooks online. Probably another thing I could do is visit the local libraries and history centers to see if they have kept older school annuals.
I ordered a high school yearbook from a seller on ebay for one of my long-lost family members and WWII hero. It was cool, finding out the clubs he was in, etc, in addition to the main photo.
If you know the high school, town and year, you may be able to get the yearbook for about $20. The seller I used even did a lookup for me (I wasn't sure if I needed 1939 or 1940, and they checked so I would buy the right one).
It is a pay site, but Classmates.com has some yearbooks. They have my senior graduation school, but not previous 3 year HS. ( Got moved near end of junior year. Not a good thing) :-(
Ancestry.com has some high school (and middle school) yearbooks online. I found one from 1906 that had a great-great aunt's picture, as well as one from the 1960s that listed my uncle

Now that is a cool early photo find, Aggiebuttercup! I use Ancestry.com off and on, but from my quick search nothing came up, try try again, thanks for the tip.
