Has anyone else heard of this show? I received a message on my Ancestry.com account yesterday from a woman saying they are producing a show called "The Relative Race". Apparently the company behind it is called "Lenzworks." I looked it up and it appears to be a real show and a real company.
Basically they said my DNA matches one of their "participants" on the show...I guess the point of the show is to connect distantly related people that have a common ancestor.
Is this a real show or is this some sort of weird scam?
I would be cautious, also--due to identity theft & all. As precaution, I would tell them your attorney will need review their proposal/agreement prior to divulging personal details.
My husband heard from them, too. Ancestry.com is one of the sponsors of the show. He has two DNA matches on Ancestry for that i.d. They seem legitimate to me, but we aren't interested in participating on this particular program format.

Both myself and a distant cousin received invitations to participate in "Relative Race." The person we were supposed to be related to was Janice Wright. Problem I had is the ancestor in my tree she claimed had never married and left no children. The ancestor named in my cousin's tree was not a blood relative to the one in my tree. So we were concerned that this was a scam. Later communications with the producers of the show confirmed it was legitimate. However, neither of us were going to be on the show as "relatives" of the participant in the race. Still, it would be interesting to find out why she thought she was related to either of us.
FWIW, I did get a follow up from the producers. They said they appreciated my application but a meetup wouldn't work out due to scheduling, etc.
