I just had to come back and update this post. My coworker with the last name of Butt just got married and she kept her maiden name. Bee you tee tee.

I don't know.

But I do know that if my last name was 'Trickle', I'd never name a child 'Richard'. And if it was me with those names, I'd darn sure never go by 'Dick'.

If Butt was my surname I sure hope my first name wasn't Seymour unless my parents were guiding me toward a career in proctology.

Our high school did have kid with last name of Banus and pranksters would cover the "B" on his athletic jersey
My husband's grandfather is Dick Johnson.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but seeing the thread name it reminded hearing about a guy named Dick Assman - Surely, I would have changed my name if it was that!

yes, Butt is a stupid last name, and I would surely change it. There is no reason to have a stupid last name like that, or any other stupid last name.

My mothers first BF's last name was "Stump", OMG, thank god she married a greek man, (my father) and we have a nice ethnic greek last name. I absolutely would have of changed my name if it were Stump. LOL
