Thanks That makes a lot more sense than Deficient lol. Unfortunately it seems to be a creek that might have disappeared with time (at least the name), google searches don't seem to come up with a Defiant creek off of broad river in South Carolina =/

I have multiple Langley's that come from the Newberry/Oranageburg area of 96th district between broad river and saluda river. Earliest land record I have is of an Isham/Isom/Isum Langley with land in that area in 1774. This is for a William Langley in 1767, I suspect it might be his father or a brother, but hard digging up records that early.

Found a source that transcribed the creek name...

Seems to be "Difficult Creek"... an interesting name lol. Later on it seems to be renamed to "Terrible Creek" (where it shows up on some early maps. Guess they didn't like that creek.
