I am looking for a record of someone born in 1890 in Texas. How would I find her birth certificate, or marriage certificate record online? I want more information about her, such as her parent's names and what city in Texas she was born in.

The Texas Department of State Health did not begin issuing birth certificates until 1903, so someone who was born in 1890 wouldn't have an official birth certificate unless they applied for a delayed birth certificate. There may have been early birth registers at a county or city level depending where they lived. If not, the best you can hope for is finding a church birth/baptismal record, or a birth announcement in the newspaper.

Marriage records in Texas were/are held at county level. Check with the county clerk where they were married.

No, I didn't use the Texas links. I located Eler in the 1900 census and went from there.

You will need concentrate your search efforts on Tuscaloosa, Alabama in order to get back further on the Leonard and Hamel families. The following finds are the extent of my resources. I have no experience reserching in Alabama. There may be family history or town history books which include them. And historic newspapers are always a source of local information. You can also try the google books search engine.

You can request military records from NARA for Jessie Milton Leonard & Daniel Jarman Hamel.
