I saw this headline in the BBC news earlier this week. Boris Johnson (UK's Foreign Secretary / former London Mayor) recently found who his 7th great grandmother was.
What's interesting about this story of his 7th g-grandmother was that her body had been mummified by being treated with mercury due to having syphilis.
Scientists in the Swiss city of Basel have solved a decades-old mystery over the identity of a mummified woman.
Their research revealed a surprise: the woman is the great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother of UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
The body was uncovered in 1975 while renovations were being done on Basel's Barfüsser Church.
While not exactly related, I believe this was mentioned previously on this board somewhere. Boris was featured on Who Do you Think you are? TV show about a decade ago. The highlight for me was that of Boris' interesting Turkish ancestry. I posted a link in case someone would like to watch the episode.
