The 1920 Census shows George, age 13, Lucille, age 11, David age 9. So, if that marriage certificate is for the right couple, that would probably mean that this was a second marriage for George C. Harding, the father.

However, that is assuming that this is the right couple. It could just be another couple.

I will continue looking around later if I have time.

But, we have leads on the names of the children from the Census records, so that may make it pretty straightforward to track down more information on them.

(Earlier I mentioned that there was a Family Tree on Ancestry that appears to include that couple. I notice that there are other trees that include them as well, although it is not 100% clear to me that they are all talking about the *same* George Harding and Catherine Cayer from Illinois, as some of the information on the trees conflicts. I would suggest we only use primary sources for now, rather than family trees. It does appear that there may have been more than one George Harding in Illinois, but so far only ONE has turned up married to Catherine in Buena Park CA.)

George (the son) is 13 on the 1930 census. On George (the father's) WW1 draft card he states he has a wife, and one child, and that must be George (the son).

The Indiana marriage of George Harding is interesting. Our George Harding's wife Catherine's middle name is Marie, not Veronica.

But, the bride's surname, Cayer, matches.

Thanks for this, Daliowa. As soon as I saw the date (1915) I knew it probably wasn't the right Catherine and George. It's kind of a fun little quirk of life though that two couples had such similar names.

Just another heads up: There was also another George C. Harding floating around Chicago during the same time period. His wife (according to the 1940 Census) was named Julia H.

I hope Flying comes back and adds what they have already found about their George C. and Catherine M. Harding. Flying might have information that would help us keep the two George's straight on various records.

The fact that two different men named George Harding both married girls named Catherine Cayer......what are the odds?

Here is Catherine Cayer (Kate) in Chicago in 1910 with her parents & siblings.
But, where is Catherine's brother Jim, the one living with her in 1920? He was 23 in 1920, so should be about 13 in 1910.

I thank everyone who has responded for their time and help.
Catherine's siblings were George, Cornelius, Florence (Floss), Eleanor (Nell), James, James Benedict, et al. Her parents were Hanora (Hickey) and George Alexander (?).
