I've recently made quite a bit of progress in uncovering some of my deep genealogy and luckily I have stumbled across a few lines that were among the landed Gentry in a few countries including Portugal, Spain, Belgium and France. I have a long way yet to go so possibly more treasures to be uncovered. What I have found is that it is truly amazing how detailed some of those lives were even in medieval times including specific roles in battles among other things. My question is for those that have recorded verifiable Gentry lines what have you uncovered that you find interesting?

This is fairly new to me apparently landed Gentry was more of a British thing and it was for land owing families without titles so perhaps not the best word for the Spanish equivalent of Hidalgo and Portuguese Fidalgo.

From an up north origin? Clean blood? Where are you getting this from? Yes some appear to not have inherited much especially if they fell out of favor with the King.

I'm not too sure about Spain but this wiki entry is correct on Fidalgo in Portugal based on what I've read.
