I wish I could say I lost them during this update but I can't. I can't recall the last time I looked at the messages I'm missing. According to one profile I made from the missing message, they were created March 2018 so it was a fairly new message

I was just looking at messages I sent in 2015 last month. I've never noticed any loss of messages at all. I look through my messages at least 1-2 times a month looking to see if I had contacted someone before about a particular family line.

Well, for years now I have noted in my DNA matches which ones I've sent messages too and whether I got a response or not and in the past have definitely come across ones that say I've sent/received a message but can't find any proof of it in my message center. I might not have even noticed it if I hadn't made a note of it so I imagine many people don't. Maybe it doesn't effect everyone, who knows? I can only speak to my own experience. They seem completely random, whereas this update seems to remove everything before a certain date? Currently, I still have messages back to 2009, apart from the random missing ones.

I just logged into my father's ancestry to make sure there weren't any unread messages that were being ignored. He got an update to the messaging system. So, I know it exists! I logged out of my account hoping that it might allow the update, but no luck.

Happy to hear that someone else has gotten the update! Hopefully you're turn will be coming soon. How did you like it?

I didn't really explore it since there weren't any messages to track. I thought there might be one or two messages but there wasn't anything.

Welp. Five months later and I've finally gotten the new messaging layout. It's interesting to see that most of my unanswered messages have actually been read. People are so rude sometimes. Just saying, "Thanks for your message, but I don't have any extra information," would be fabulous.

Still no new messaging system for me. They're really taking their sweet time.
