Welp. Five months later and I've finally gotten the new messaging layout. It's interesting to see that most of my unanswered messages have actually been read. People are so rude sometimes. Just saying, "Thanks for your message, but I don't have any extra information," would be fabulous.
Glad you finally got it. Same experience for me, the messages that weren't replied to were read. I personally wouldn't do something like that.
Ancestry asks me to rate the messaging system every time I use it, I make sure to do it every time hoping it helps them roll it out faster. I let them know people are anxiously waiting for it

I got it three days ago. I love the 'read' feature too but am horrified that all my unanswered messages had been read!! I could see my "SENT" messages even 2 days ago but not any more. I will miss that.

Agree with missing sent messages. I think those are the ones I lost with the new system are the ones I originally sent people. I have some convo's that are obviously missing a few parts to them.
It sucks knowing everyone read the message you sent but didn't reply! Soon they will realize it too in their own inbox! I just hope that it will help with people that are rude to at least answer something.
I have one match "C" who told me that I matched her husband who was really sick. I ended up finding out that they not only divorced but that he passed away years ago! I told her about the new inbox and asked her point blank if I matched her "husband" or did I really match their son? She didn't answer me. Oh well. Had she, I would have given her more information, just be honest with me
Roselvr, this is interesting.. I sent a message to a new person last night and checked it half an hour later. It said 'Read'. However, when i look today to see when they last signed in, it still says 3-11 month ago. So something is a bit suspect there. And the message still says it was read. Who knows what triggers what? I know a lot of people use their phones, naybe they can 'see' things without signing in...?
I'm old and have to use a desktop for all this stuff so I can have multiple windows open at a time and see large expanses of information!

Probably read it using the ancestry app. I've seen it too where it says they haven't logged in but my message was also read.
I heard on one of the Facebook groups that the read date isn't reliable and it's been saying messages are read when they are not.
I would concur, I was recently upgraded to the new messaging system and basically every message I sent to over 2 dozen people over the last 16 months, has the time "read" the exact same time I sent the message?
There's definitely a bug they still need to work out and at least for me, I wouldn't trust that "read time" at all, since every single one matches the time I sent the message, and the odds everybody I sent a message to reading it instantaneously, as it was sent, are slim to none and slim left town!

I had the same issue and now everything is saying “delivered,” so I’m assuming people are as lame as I thought in regard to reading messages.
