Four generations of my family go every Memorial Day to visit 3 different cemeteries to clean graves and pass on family stories. This doesn't even include my "favorite" family cemetery that I make at least a couple of pilgrimages to every year (other side of the family)...........due for one in early Nov. btw.

But I get it, San Diego is probably a very different place than Western Maryland though. Around here the thought of digging up an old cemetery would be unheard of.

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.

As the planet is being filled by an ever-increasing population, it seems selfish to me to be buried, taking up space that someone else may need later on. I expect to be cremated with my ashes added to the channel off of the West side of Maui where I live.
No need to be "remembered".

You don’t even have to go out on a boat, or hire anyone to do anything. DIY.

Hope I dont have a gravestone and that I have some good friends like Edward Abbey to dispose of me properly when the time finally comes. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...ance/25930091/ Now there is a guy who went out in style, true to his wishes and beliefs .

Free your body and soul
Unfold your powerful wings
Climb up the highest mountains
Kick your feet up in the air
You may now live forever
Or return to this earth
Unless you feel good where you are!
