I have been in and out of Iberia a few times on different testing sites - originally in then out and back in somewhere else. MyHeritage still has me in. Ancestry says nope, 23andme says “broadly” So. Europe. FTDNA says Malta which is awfully specific and Mizrahi Jewish - totally out of synch with any other site. There must be a Mediterranean Sea/South Europe gene floating around in the mix. It is a very small percentage. About 95% of the results are plausible for a Pomeranian Walloon German English Dutch Kerry-Irish guy. If you took a 200 mile wide paint roller from Dingle to Gdańsk you would cover most of my Ancestry except for a couple Bavarians and a lonely Ukrainian. The Iberian thing has just been a sore thumb.

It's actually Malta and Sicily, I don't know why they are calling it just Malta, or Malta at all, since it seems more people will be Sicilian than Maltese. But the Italian Peninsula population also covers Sicily so maybe that's why.

Interestingly, my dad would be about 12-13% Sicilian and 37-38% Southern Italian. At FTDNA, he gets 38% in Italian Peninsula and 15% in "Malta", which like I say, includes Sicily. He has no ancestry from Malta, but if you consider that his Sicilian ancestry, they pretty much nailed it.
