I have seen on Reddit. One of the members told that his ethnicity is Turkish, he lives in Germany, he took a DNA test and the test estimates his ethnicity as Pakistani, although genetic difference between Turks and Pakistanis is quite big. Is there anyone who took DNA test and his/her ethnicity estimate is very different than his/her real ethnicity?
All the big DNA companies (Ancestry, 23andMe, FTDNA, MyHeritage, etc.) have their own proprietary algorithm and reference panel of DNA samples they use to come up with ethnicities % for their results.
I posted my breakdown from Ancestry, MyHertiage and FTDNA on here maybe a year or more ago and while all were slightly different, they were close enough to jive from where I know my near ancestors (within the last 400 years) came from.

People with ancestry from historical empires - like Turkey / Ottoman - can have a wide variety of results as many people / slaves came to the empire from other areas. I've heard most people in W Turkey are mostly of Greek DNA, also lots of Eastern European, etc. Many Spaniards still have Moroccan DNA from the 800 colonization period.

True. I did three, yes three, DNA tests. My mother was born and raised in Crete, Greece and two of the tests stated I was Italian and 14% Anatolian. Of course, that is most likely from the migration patterns and fighting amongst empires many eons ago. But one test pinpointed EXACTLY the island I came from. Crete. I thought that was pretty cool.
The test results are general estimates and not precise where there has been a lot of migration or movement over centuries. The map designations do not well conform well to recognized countries. Knowing history of a place is very helpful.

However, Pakistan has never been a part of Ottoman Empire and genetic difference between Pakistanis and Turks is quite big.

So one guy used one Oracle on GEDmatch and it wasn't right? What was the distance? How about Mixed Mode? Let's see the information.
