If someone who was born in el salvador wanted to know to whom ultimately they could trace their family tree to if theyre biracial (mestizo), native americans or european settlers from spain? Their family tree could only be made to the year 1525 when european colonization of what is now present day el salvador... other than a professional genealogist, who could help them determine this? If theyre biracial and hence have a european name, last name and they suspected that any name in spanish isnt their native name and thus should have an american indian (native american), how can they determine this??

Hispanic is NOT a Race.

Its is an ETHNICITY

Mestizos like my Colombian family, are part Native American and Part European.

There are 3 races and one person can be made up of dna from 1 or more races

Native American DNA data is not as large as European.
There are many doubts associated w NA dna.
See Kim TallBear's book on NA DNA and false promises.

You should run your DNA and see what comes out.

The someone mentioned in your OP would have both European (likely Spanish) and Central American Indian ancestry. It is a complex picture and people moved around. The early Spanish commonly took Indian wives and after a few generations many of the descendants were Spanish in almost every way that mattered. They might recall what Indian nation they were from but maybe not and after a few generations it could be multiple nations. I have neighbors who are of Spanish descent, the family living in the SW states since the 1600s, but recall that they also descend from Zacatecas Indians back in the 1500s. A DNA test might sort things out.

DNA tests are good at sorting out continental level ancestry. If you have European and Native American genetic ancestry, these tests will find it.

At least both.

You must run your dna to see which ethnicities you are.
You are at least 1 race which is Caucasian.

You might be more.

But how can that dna tell them ultimately, who were their relatives in 1491 conclusively? If theyre biracial, should they have a european name or an american indian name instead??
