Maybe this is simple, maybe it's hard, maybe something has changed, but I want to change the main profile photo for one person.

I did have a picture of his church as a main profile photo but now that I know he was a clockmaker, I'd like to have a photo I took of one of his grandfather clocks as the main picture. But Ancestry has stuck a DNA icon in its place. Is there any way I can drag or somehow move the DNA icon away and make the clock picture his profile picture? I thought there used to be an option for Make this the Main Picture or something like that. This is on Ancestry.co.uk--I haven't used it in a while so maybe things have changed or maybe it's just me! Thank you for any help.

If using a browser and not phone, click on the profile photo and you'll get a drop down menu of options.

I seriously hope you're not using your phone, I'm known to make that mistake due to being impatient and its not worth the headache

Same thing on the cell app, click the profile photo, it gives remove and change as the option.

Ancestry don't add or change photos to your tree. You must have accidentally clicked "save" on an image hint or something like that.

https://support.ancestry.com/s/artic...Profile-Photos

Click on the profile photo or photo placeholder by their name.
Select the photo you want, or if there's already a profile photo, click Choose Profile Image, then select the photo you want.
Drag and resize the square to cover just the part you want to be the profile photo and click Done.

It's the same for the UK site.

I'll give it a try, thank you. I do believe I must have clicked on something and that's what did it. NOT on a phone, lol. But every time I go into Ancestry lately it's changed with DNA all over the place. Maybe it was when the distant English relative put me on her tree as a guest and I saved some of her information to my tree. Bingo! All of a sudden all these red DNA icons showed up going back to 1776!

It's reassuring to see the DNA going all that way back, meaning I really do descend from these people. I just want my tree to have a more attractive and pertinent main profile picture instead of a DNA icon.

PA2UK and cleosmom, it worked! Thanks again. I think we used to just drag and drop but I may be mistaken. In this case all I had to do was to click on the DNA photo and that produced a drop down menu with a choice to choose the main picture. Then I could drag it over and it's done. Just the way I wanted it.

Done!
