The image below shows two symbols I see in my family tree.
One is a large Check Mark the other looks like binoculars. What do they mean?
Is there a master list of these/other icons with their meaning etc objectively/clearly stated?
Thanks.
I've created a few for my tree to help me navigate to my direct line, or if someone was in a war or died young. It would be nice if there was an alert so you could know in advance if photos were in a gallery versus going through them to see (time-consuming).
Then it's something my "angel" did for me. She uses some offline software.
oi! And why not?
Yet another thread of "feature" bashing
I really don't know how to answer that since you don't even know what purpose the symbols serve to your search angel, and therefore why Ancestry might not offer that particular feature. I'm not "bashing" anything, just stating a fact - Ancestry doesn't add obscure symbols to the name field of profiles. If they were to add a feature that served the same purpose of whatever your search angel is using them for, it would probably be a more intuitive tool than adding obscure symbols cluttering the name field.

There are tags for that, if you're using Ancestry.com. Once tagged, you can filter by tags.
So ask her. It looks like something she did for herself, not you, to keep track of her own work.
Agreed! That's why I did it too. I do the tags too like Mr. Rational said, but I like the immediate visual to help me see where I am going in the tree.
How did you even read what she said as feature bashing?
I didn't. She apparently did.
I anticipated ya'all to deep dive into these sorts of USEFUL notations (and lack of) ...
and THAT would lead to some bashing.
