I think the reason for the roll call list would hopefully be able to find help researching names that we are stuck on/ have reached a dead end with. Who knows maybe someone else on C-D is researching the same surname or has come across a surname that someone is researching. Sometimes all it takes is one little piece of info. that someone may have or has ran across to get past the wall we have all hit at one time or another.

I don't think it would be real helpful here considering the rather limited search capabilities on these CD forums. Once the thread goes over a few pages it will become a pain to read through.

Understood ... but how is it going to be created on this board? How does a surname get linked back to the board username that is interested in it? Sounds mighty clunky to me.

Can it be alphabetized or indexed in some way? Perhaps a different thread for each letter. Perhaps specific threads for common names: Smith, Johnson... etc.

It's time consuming to scroll through pages (and pages and pages) to find and obscure or non-Anglo name.

I also have a dead-end great-grandfather.
Names will be alphabetized and linked to poster with the surname. It is linked through code.
I hate scrolling through hundreds of pages too. I will try to keep it simple
Yes it will be a sticky.

I want all who reads this to undersand that linking pages to name is a tedious process that takes a considerable amount of time. Once roll call is open for surnames be patient. It will take some time before the sticky is posted.

Thank you for your interest and support of the Genealogy Forum

One of the very early settlers in Pa (1700s) was Bird/Byrd. The many children. I do not remember if Joel was a son or a brother of the settler. Triplett was in VA. I don't remember if it was Spotslvania or Fauquier County.
