Im looking for information on my Great Grandpa whom lived in Cabool, Missouri. I heard from family members that he was a marshal for Cabool Missouri, in the early 1900's. His name is Woodly T. Johnson. I just recently found out that he is buried in Hamilton County Cemetary which is just outside of Cabool, Missouri.

You may have already found this but here's some info on your great grandmother. They had 10 children. Wow!

Sarah Elizabeth " Bettie " McGehee (Elijah E. McGehee3, William L. " Bill " McGehee2, ?1) was born 12 Jun 1879 in Cabool MO, and died 27 Mar 1918 in Cabool MO. She was buried in Hamilton Cemetery. She married Woodley T. Johnson 31 Aug 1898, son of Woodlife Thomas Johnson and Pauline Jane "Rebecca" (Pennington) Johnson. He was born 20 Mar 1874, and died 29 Dec 1923.

Children of Sarah Elizabeth " Bettie " McGehee and Woodley T. Johnson are:

i. John Lee Johnson was born 29 Jul 1899, and died 30 Nov 1971. He married Myrtle Edith Stewart.
ii. Dollie Mable Johnson was born 12 Jul 1900. She married Clarance Henry Parmente. She married Leland Cook. She married Ira Luke Dimitt.
iii. Fred Earl Johnson was born 29 May 1903, and died 14 Dec 1989. He married Francis Huffman.
iv. Nancy P. Johnson was born 15 Oct 1904, and died Mar 1905.
v. Hubert Johnson was born 29 Mar 1906, and died 1912.
vi. Harry Cecil Johnson was born 10 Mar 1908, and died 27 Aug 1975. He married Nellie Marie Johnson.
vii. Frances Mattie Johnson. She married Charles Amos Dimitt.
viii. Gladys Marie Johnson. She married Jack Atkins. She married Jesse Strickland.
ix. Lillian Mae Johnson. She married Allen Warren Barton. She married William Z Walker.
x. Ruby Marion Johnson. She married Clifford Durham. She married Robert Winters.

Have you tried the Missouri death records site? It gives many of the actual death certificates for different counties in Missouri. It is very helpful.
Also have you read the census reports for that area for the years that your ancestor lived there. They give a great deal of information.
I have traced my family back for 11 generations, so I have been researching for many years, and like to help others.
Also you might write or call the local library for that area and see if they have obituaries. Our local library has a good collection. I went back through many of the old newspapers that were on microfilm and printed out many old obituaries for their genealogy department.
Good luck.

Is this the Sarah you're looking for?

Paulina Pennington Johnson

Woodley Johnson's death certificate

You can also search for census records here:
FamilySearch Record Search

On a side note, I have lots of McGehees and Pennington's on my tree mostly in Texas county. Although I have an Elijah McGehee that died in 1868 in Lawrence county, Missouri. Probably related somehow. He married Sarah Pennington. They had 7 children: daughters Louisa, Lucinda, Elizabeth (married William Johnson), Nancy, Susan, and sons Asa and Carroll.

The 1920 Census shows a Sarah McGehee born in 1877. In 1920 she lived in Lawrence county, Missouri with her husband Eli and kids Maggie and Billy. Not sure if that's your Sarah and Eli or not. They're way too young to be my Sarah Pennington and Elijah McGehee.

Hi,
I'm a descendent of Woodley's sister Matilda Johnson. I see you've already received lots of info from others. I'm happy to share what I have. Which of Woodley's children are you descended from?

One small point: Woodlief Thomas Johnson (along with many relatives) is buried in the Hamilton *family* cemetery, in Texas County. Nowhere near Hamilton County.
