Where can I get the admixture test shown on Faces of America last night? The test I'm referring to gives you a breakdown of your percentage of each racial group. For example, I think Eva Longoria was something like 70% Caucasian, 25% Asian, and 5% African. I would like to see a breakdown like that.

Seems like somewhat usesless information. I did think it interesting that the woman writer who claims to be American Indian refused to take it and confirm whether she really is.

Yeah, her books are all about being Native American so it would hurt her career to be tested as mostly white.

Loved how she said it was her family's wishes that she not do so. Perhaps some are collecting tribal benefits that could be in jeopardy if the truth were known.

I don't know if I would go that far. Some tribal eleders and others believe their spirt can be stolen by something as simple as letting a stranger take their picture. They may feel the same way about swabs and blood tests. If she really wanted to know, she could take the test and tell anyone. Considering a black slave was in the colonies before the white Europeans, I think it is hard to say who is what with any accuracy. I have pictures of seven generations in my fanuly. I"m not too worried about what came before them. .

An odd comment. The point is that she doesn't want to have a test on record that shows she is not as Indian as she makes herself out to be. It has nothing to do with any elders or whatnot.

Anything mixed in before that would be less than 1% if I'm doing the math correctly.

Many enrolled members of tribes find DNA testing offensive and another form of genocide. And how would you know if it has nothing to do with the elders of her tribe??? hmmmm Honoring elders is very much a part of ndn culture.

The woman in question readly admits to one side of her family being white.

I am ndn but not enrolled, so I have had the ethnology test done, to my surprise I have more % of ndn blood than I had originally thought. I have many friends who are enrolled and consider DNA testing very much against their belief system.

I assumed that was a typo and meant to say "she could take the test and NOT tell anyone". But of course if word leaked that she'd taken the test and refused to release the findings, people would make assumptions.
