If you're moving anything with mirrors or glass you may be shocked to find out how much it costs to move. We had a king sized mirrored headboard (the type with a light bridge and bookshelves on either end). That thing was moved 3x by corporate moves, they crated the mirrors, and charged $500 for the crate. The entire headboard wasn't worth $500! But it was a corporate move, so they paid for it.

We also had some glass top end tables, there again, they charged way more than they were worth to ship them, had to take the glass out and crate it.

Anything that can travel in its own frame, such as mirrors, are ok, but if you have mirrored furniture or glass topped furniture, I would seriously consider selling it in lieu of moving it, or just be prepared for a very high expense. Get estimates either way, but be prepared to ditch the glass stuff.

We sold our headboard to a junk dealer, it had other signs of wear, so relieved not to have to move that thing again!

Another option if it's possible is to move the glass in the car with you instead of having the movers handle it.

They also have boxes (corrugated cardboard) designed specifically for mirrors and glass. Use PLENTY of cushioning material and you're good to go. You can buy them at Home Depot or from a moving company. (Moving company might also have used ones for much cheaper than new)

Thanks for the heads-up! I have an ancient occasional table with a glass top. I think I'll give it to GoodWill instead of paying to have movers pack the glass.
