I am looking to relocate by myself in the near future, Uhaul can only install a hitch for the smallest trailer they have. This might be big enough, but looks a little on the small side to me. Other alternatives is a car dolly......Well, being alone and travelling across the US kind of worries me with towing a car behind a uhaul. I don't have anyone to help me drive, so that is out of the question to take two vehicles. Does anyone know of a cheaper way to transport, or relocate? I know they have pods, and moving companies that do this sort of thing, but they seem really expensive. Any suggestions for me? ANYONE?

THANKS

As someone who's moved cross country twice, be sure NOT to overload your trailer. Trust me, it's very easy to exceed your vehicle's towing capacity (look in your owner's manual.) If you're not sure how heavy your stuff is, it's really not a bad idea to take your vehicle and loaded trailer to a weigh station before you set out on a long trip. Hauling more than your car can handle can cause costly mechanical problems (transmission, brakes, etc.) not to mention risking the saftey of yourself and others on the road!

If you decide you need a U-haul truck but need a way to also get your personal vehicle to your new home, you might want to google for 'driveaway companies.' These are agencies who find people to drive your car to your new place for you. It's cheaper than hiring a moving van (the drivers are often college students or tourists who are looking for free transportation), but less risky than trusting ANYONE to drive your car for you since they have insurance to cover any damages that might happen along the way.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Wow, thanks for the driveaway company idea.......I was wondering if there was an agency or business like that......If not, maybe I needed to create one....LOL.
