Hi everyone. It sounds like quite a few people in here have used ABF so I wanted to ask you about your experience with them.

I'm trying to decide if we should cough up the extra money to guarantee our delivery date or if it's a waste. We're loading up our trailer on Friday and I was told it'll likely ship Monday. We're moving from Wisconsin to Oregon and the estimated ship time is 4 business days which means the trailer will arrive the same day we do, Thursday (we're driving). My boyfriend is here with me until the following Monday but he's then going to fly back to Wisconsin for a couple of weeks to finish things up at his job. If the trailer doesn't arrive on Thursday or Friday, we're in trouble since he won't be here to help me with our stuff.

Any advice? I'm leaning towards just paying extra but if their estimated shipping times are generally correct then I don't want to waste my money.

I used their relo-cube system and the estimation was right on. You can track the movement of your things so that also helps.

If you think your boyfriend may not be able to be there something you may want to consider is hiring some moving help on the receiving end. ABF has contractors that will do this but I thought it was very expensive to go through them. The quote was 3 hour min for 2 guys at almost $500. The other problem was in my case they didn't have anyone available on short notice.

I called a local company and got two guys for two hours for $180. They brought dolly's tools, etc. and did an excellent job. They were done in under two hours and we had two full re-lo cubes. It was sooo worth it. What made it nice is they were also flex about the day. Like you I wasn't sure exactly what day the truck would arrive so they allowed me to call when the truck got there and the help came the next morning.

Good luck!

We knew we wanted to load up the truck on Friday/Saturday so we had the trailer delivered on Thursday. We were given a 4 hour window for the trailer drop off. You need to be there for the trailer drop off at both places but you do not need to be there for the trailer pick up. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies!

Part of the problem is that we are going from terminal to terminal, meaning that we are meeting them there with a Uhaul truck/trailer and taking stuff that way. We are renters so we don't have a driveway or anything to park a trailer in. Maybe I could hire someone with a truck to help with that but it would be outrageously expensive I'm sure.

I have used them 3 times. They always show up on time or early. Ask your Landlord if there is anywhere you can park the trailer for a day. Explain your situation, most often they will have somewhere on the property the trailer can be parked. Unloading, loading and unloading again just sounds terrible.
