Start with cleaning out, don't take those items you don't use.
It is amazing how much we can get rid of rather than pay to move.
If you need to pack 200 cartons, start early pack 5 cartons a day for 40 days and wow you are done, and not to much stress.
Another very good thing is to get the kids involved in not only packing their own items but also in deciding what needs to go and what can be disposed of. The more involved they are the more they will accept the move.
I think one month is sufficient to do all packing but if you find that you have large amount of stuff and mess in home thatw ill consume more time than you can start it 2 months earlier.
Just be like me, and procrastinate. Then, on the weekend of the move, you go completely crazy, and throw tons of stuff out. And buy the same stuff over when you get to your destination. You can't find anything for months, because you just threw it all in random boxes, socks next to DVD's, next to the cat toys.
Okay, maybe procrastination is not the greatest idea.
You mean, there's OTHER ways of doing it? I think of it as a lucky dip at the other end.
