Hello, my family and I relocated from Tuscaloosa, AL to the Gulf Coast last year. We have been unable to sell our house (has been for sale for over a year) and are on the verge of returning to Tuscaloosa. My husband was able to get his old job back, but we are still struggling with the decision, because we really like the area that we moved to.
Our main issue is that we don't know how much longer we should give our house to sell - we can't afford to buy without selling our current home and we are not crazy about renting. The past year has been very stressful - moving to a new town, not being able to sell our house, etc and stepping back into our old life sounds pretty good, even though we weren't that crazy about where we lived before.
Other things to consider also are that if we stay, we will contending with hurricanes and rising homeowner's insurance costs.
You said you really like the place you moved to so IMHO, that's where you should stay. You may not be crazy about renting, but it won't be a long term situation. Do you have your house priced as low as you can possibly go?
