I am from MI originally. At least you are moving in good weather.

I think with moves the unknown is hard. Just trying to stay in the day and take things as they come. So much of the worry before or fears is just that and does not happen. If it does you may be surprised at how you get through it. Just being realistic and that it takes tie to adjust. Plus there may be tears and that is ok. A mix of emotions and being homesick.
Hope all find a place that is for them and is happy. That would start 2012 bright

YES!

I was scheduled to go back to Georgia and got as far as Dallas (TX) and turned back. The job market down there really makes me nervous.

I've rescheduled the move for early March, but now I'm looking at the midwest mainly. Still haven't ruled out the deep south, but it's less and less likely.

Yep, a couple weeks before I moved. I strongly disliked where I already lived. And I knew I would be moving to a place I really liked (and an area I had lived in before). But like people said previously, it's just the unknown. It's not easy to leave the familiar... even when the familiar isn't all that great! There's a comfort in familiarity.
But as one of the first responders said, I would definitely listen to your gut feelings. Is this cold feet, or do you have some sort of gut instinct that's trying to tell you something?

Try doing an "alternate timeline" of your life. Kind of like the "alternate 1985" from Back to the Future II. Imagine if you had no moving plans at all, and your future forecast was simply to stay in the place you are now indefinitely. Could you handle that? My answer to that question was a big fat no. That warmed up my feet a bit. lol
