First, in the OP, she was "laid off". Then later, in post #9, she admits she quit her job (and that's the reason she is not eligible for unemployment).
My FIRST job that I quit was a TEMPORARY/CONTRACT assignment where I was being harassed. I was the 3rd person to be placed in this position who quit. Then, I was hired at ANOTHER DIFFERENT company where I was LAID OFF. Again, thanks for the judgemental criticism. I am currently seeking employment in Dallas as well as LA, Phoenix/Scottsdale. The economy in Dallas isn't as stellar as everyone on this board raves it to be!
The rejection of Austin and San Antonio just because they are still in Texas (and as different as they are from Dallas) bespeaks an emotional, as oppossed to a rational and analytical, approach.
I have been to Austin 5 times. Not impressed. I have been to San Antonio, nice town. Am I prejudiced against the entire state of Texas? You betcha! Emotional from my experiences in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio? Sure, who wouldn't be. Isn't that some of the reasoning many of us on CD have relocated out of a state as well?
Come check out Arizona! Our economy is not the strongest, but it is improving. Just spoke to a number of people who recently moved here from various states (GA, WA,) who found work. Tucson is a college town (UofA) and is slower-paced as opposed to the greater Phoenix area where I think you will find more potential employment opportunities.
By the way, I lived in Austin for a brief period of time but it did not work out for me so I moved back and got work relatively quick.
