I know this may sound like a crazy question and I know that different people feel differently, but if you have moved somewhere, how long is the minimum time you feel you would have to spend there before you considered that you have lived there? For example, a co-worker once told me that if you spent more than a month continuously somewhere, then you have lived there while others have said that you haven't lived somewhere unless you have spent at least one year there.

I'd say one of the following conditions would have to be met... stay there for 30 days or 15 days if you sign a lease, buy a home, register a car or get a drivers license or id card.
If you have no other place to call home! I've lived in all 6 of the countries I've moved to for at least 2 years... but I've only lived in certain towns or areas sometimes for 2-3 months. I had nowhere else to call home, so I consider it having lived there!

I agree with the sign lease, buy home etc but I would say 30 days. Then if you've stay 60-90 days. I think 30 days is too short because some people go on business trips that can last 30 days.

The one month is a great visit... but "see it through four seasons" comes to mind as a minimum.
I'll go further and say that to have really lived there you need to have set down some roots...
and to have experienced something good and something bad in addition to all the day to day stuff.
I'd say one to 6 months..it depends also on what you do there..do you work, have an apartment or house? Cook and shop and actually do day to day things to maintain a life? One month seems the lowest amount of time you can say you lived someplace but I'd go with 6 months average really..Just to live and work and pay bills and get your DL or ID changed and so on, it takes more than a month to get all that started.
If your life is there, you've lived there. Work, school, etc etc. If not, you are just visiting. A month long business trip to somewhere doesn't mean you lived there in the way most people would take it.

"No, I was only there in January for business".
Hell, now that I think about it, I was on a business trip for 3 weeks once and no way would I have considered saying I had lived in that place if I'd stayed another week. You can't get to know a place in a month, probably not even in 6 months. I've been here 2 years and am still finding my way around.
