My last thread, and the responses, got me wondering.....How many places have you lived in...in how many years?

I have counted it up. 17 places in 17 years!

I have been married to my husband for almost 17 years. We have lived in 17 different places.

Houses, apartments, temporary living, etc. The longest we have lived in any given house is 4 years....left for 1 year....and back for one year. This house. Maybe that is why it is hard for me to leave.

Some moves have been international, some domestic, some local. Many were in-between temporary accommodations.

My father used to tease my husband "every time Barbie gets bored, you move." I think "every time I find a new house I like, we are re-lo'd."

What's your story?

You guys are professionals;I'm just an amateur. I only moved 9 times--5 cities, 4 states, but I still have time to improve my record. I'm eyeing my next locale. Love to relocate for a couple of years here and there probably forever, if not for the expense of it.

Geez I have been moving ever since my parents divorced when I was five. I hate it. I never felt like I belonged anywhere. I have lived:
Different cities in Southern California
Arizona
Nevada
Washington
England

This will be hopefully our last move and my first move with a husband and child. Which scares me because I never did a move with a child.

I watch a lot of HGTV and always blows me away at the fact that people only plan to live in a place for 5 years by choice. I don't want that. After my parents divorced I was uprooted from all the security and my playground of 40 acres. It was the worse feeling in my life. Ever since I was 8 or 9 I have been drawing up house plans because I dreamed of the perfect home that I would never move from. A place where I would pass to my children and their children. A legacy. A utopia.

I don't want to move anymore. I just want one home. One place. That is what I want for my son so he never feels he has to keep running and that he never feels misplaced. I want him to be grounded.

I do love travel though. I will always travel places. I love different cultures.
I have been to England numerous times. Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, South Africa. My goal is to visit every state in America. I had the luxury of seeing DC and the White House. It was a beautiful place. I would love to see New England one day and ofcourse Ellis Island to look up my grandfathers name. God Bless America!

I lived in 15 states before I was 15 years old and we have moved 8 times in 5 years. We have been where we are now for about 1 1/3 years and that is a record for us.
