We've rented a 26 ft Penske truck for our belongings.. with a car dolly for our one vehicle.
It will be me, my hubby driving and our 30-40 lb dog. in the cab..
QUESTION???
does anyone know how big the cabs are of the larger 26 ft penske trucks?
will this be doable?? or miserable?

I'm curious.

any other ideas/thoughts/suggestions would be welcomed.

We're planning on doing it in 3 1/2 to 4 days.

Fargo to Sioux Falls ** day one about 4 hours driving
Sioux Falls to Springfield MO ** day two.. all day driving
Springfield MO to Chattanooga TN ** day three.. all day driving
Chattanooga TN to St Augustine FL ** day four... all day driving

next day an hour or so drive to our new home in Ormond Beach fr St Augustine.

thoughts???

google says 1749 miles and 30 hours (in a car)
That's more like 1900 miles (with stops and such) and 35 hours in a truck.

The question is how many hours you can roll per day. And really do it.
Also budget for a bad weather or other no go /slow go day.
---

Don't **PLAN** for more than six or maybe seven hours rolling per day.
35 hours / 7 hrs per day = no less than 5; add an extra weather/other day and you're at 6.

We did it in a 26' uhaul when we moved From Florida back to N.H. We left Florida on a Thursday Night and arrived in N.H. on Sat morning. 1675 miles. It was miserably doable.

We travel/move with our dogs a lot. They love the car, but we try to stop ever two to three hours for a break and we try not to drive more than 10 hours a day. It all depends on your stamina and their's whether or not the trip will be miserable.

Just don't strap the dog on the top of the moving van.

I'd suggest calling your Penske location and asking what kind of seats the truck has -- bucket or bench. (Or, if there's already one there, just drive over and see for yourself.)

Bench seats are MUCH easier if you're travelling with a pet, but the majority of the trucks I've rented have had bucket seats.

I don't think you can do it in four days. That is a bit optimistic. I think five is more reasonable.
