We are finally moving to FL..We are pulling a Uhaul cargo trailer and we will have to stop and rest. we are old We are afraid our truck and trailer might get ripped off. Where is the best place to stay hotel wise. Any name hotel with better security ? If all else fails I guess we can sleep in the truck at a pilot. Any thoughts ? Thanks.

I would stay at a hotel and make sure everything is locked up really well and please dont sleep in your truck because you are making yourself a target doing that . Just make sure you have everything locked up really well . I wish you safe travels .

Do you have several alternatives for towns to stop in? If you share some of them people might be able to give you some idea of crime in those areas and which choices might be better to stop over. I would think the town would have more bearing on safety than the hotel chain. Oh, and get a lock for the trailer.

The more expensive the motel the more likely they will have better lighting and security.
So... don't go cheap (it's only a couple of nights).

Ask the desk clerk for the best spot to park the rig and room that will overlook it.

We are traveling from KY to FL via TN GA. We probably will stay around the TN GA line.

I've been able to park with a Uhaul under a light within view of the front desk before. I ask them to keep an eye on it and they often alert security too.

I have also parked where I could back the trailer door up to a wall or similar structure. Makes it next to impossible for the door to be opened even if they can cut the lock.

Larger chain hotels tend to have 24 hour desk clerks. Smaller family owned places usually don't.
