My family and I are currently contemplating moving from East Coast Canada to Florida for my husbands job.
My question...well, I have a bazillion...but in a general sense...how much of a nightmare is it going to be ie: shipping stuff down, can I bring my beloved car, pets etc etc? My husbands company will be paying for it, sponsoring us etc but I don't have a sweet clue what I am doing besides.....HELP

It's pretty easy but planning well will prevent failure. You really need to check the schools first before renting or buying. I would suggest renting for at least a year incase you moved into the wrong area. Schools driver real estate prices too. If you go the private school route, have a good public school for a "fall back" incase your children don't like the private school or it becomes too expensive. Crime of course, is always an issue anywhere in America. Florida always has to worry about hurricanes too.

I brought my vehicle and pets from Florida to Alaska, so I don't know why you couldn't. Your move will be paid for, too. See if that covers shipping a vehicle so you can just fly. If not, it's probably not going to be as big a deal in reality as it is in your head. Have a little faith in yourself. Once all your stuff is in a moving truck you're really just taking a road trip.

Start packing earlier than you think you need to, organize and label your boxes well, and research pet issues regarding travel and border crossing (which shouldn't be a big deal). If you're going to drive and your pets aren't used to traveling, start easing them into it with shorter car rides (maybe a good idea even if they're going on a plane, since motion sickness could be a problem either way). If they're really carsick talk to your vet.
