Hello Everyone. I have posted about moving to LA and the guru's and experienced have given great advice.

I am looking to make a comparison about Atlanta also and would love some heads up advice.

So, I currently own a car and was considering selling my car if I was going to relocate to LA, and thinking about doing the same thing for ATL. Will have about few months of savings just incase job can not be found prior to move. will roommate in the beginning if have to.

1) Was wondering how the public transportation is out there (metro, buses, even taxi services) in comparison to MD/VA area (if anyone is in this situation) or just plain ATL residence who have been there all their life.

2) how the job market is in general for a person who is experienced in admin/customer svc/office jobs and if you get one in a popular city or job filling location (since I do not know the area) is it easy to commute without a car

3) Housing . . . is it cheap ? renting - or roommate situations?

4) nightlife - hobbies / things to do / people.

Sorry for asking too much - but mainly work / public transportation system.

thanks everyone in advance - city data forum is one of the greatest forum I've found for the information including the people who answer with honesty and experience. I will reply in return if anyone in this thread is interested in MD/VA.

Not sure if it's too late, you wrote this a while back but I grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to Atl in 2006 for college. Still living there now. Compared between the two areas, Atl is still pretty much developing. Public transportation can be unreliable at times so you would need a car. Traffic can be a nightmare and drivers are some of the rudest. There's some nightlife and the city is starting to feel more like a city but usually I'm at home or in the office, and that's it. Housing is cheap along with apartments. Much cheaper than Virginia. I'm the opposite position of you and am looking to move back to the DC area so I may be bias to the area. Atl feels really foreign to me when I first moved down here but everything is affordable and you can live a comfortable life if you choose to.
