Quick question, hopefully someone here has previous experience.

We are looking at moving from CA to TX in the next month or so. Two of our vehicles have bank loans on them so they hold the lien on the title, cars registered in CA.

Now I'd prefer to keep the existing loans in place, but move our cars to TX and register them there.

How does one do this while still having an existing loan with the state of Texas/local county tax office.

Many thanks...

It's actually pretty simple, and people do it all the time.

You'll have to get the cars inspected (most gas stations can do this), then you handle the car registration at the county tax assessor's office (rather than the DMV). Bring the inspection certificate, proof of car insurance, and proof you own the vehicle -- your CA registration certificate will do.

You won't have to change your existing loans, but be sure and let the loan holder know the car is now located somewhere new.

Excellent, thank you for the informative response.

Looks like a relatively simple process...
