Planning to tow 35' (LOA) camp trailer with my '01 chevy 3500 dually duramax AND Arctic Fox 990 camper from Seattle area to Dallas TX area. I have not towed this combo before and will be leaving in early April, so I am concerned about mountain passes, snow, steep downgrades…
Anyone have suggestions and experience for desirable routes?? Thanks
Seattle area to Dallas TX ...will be leaving in early April,
so I am concerned about mountain passes, snow, steep downgrades…
No doubt.

There's really only one route. The concern is the weather. Watch the reports.
Roll on I-90 when you have the 2 days you'll need to get east to I-25.
Then go south.

The trick with steep downgrades is to watch your initial speed and then maintain a speed that doesn't overheat your brakes or transmission.
Early April is always a crap shoot for weather so watch the reports carefully. You didn't mention any timeframe for getting to your destination so slow is better than fast, any time.
If it snows, stop. Don't be a statistic, you get there when you get there.
If your worried about weather, just roll down 5 to LA and turn left
That's what I would do. 5 down to 10 and then 20 into Dallas.
It will be a boring drive but you won't see any snow on that route at that time of year. Google maps says it's about 500 more miles and 6 more hours. But think about it like this, a snow delay can cost you much more than that and that's not even factoring in the safety aspect of it.
Absolutely go down 5 to I-10, east to Dallas. With all the snow, I would not want to go over the mountains.
