Our rental house has been sold and is now in escrow. Our 30 day notice says to be out by May 5th. Our new place is not scheduled to be ready until May 15th. Hopefully they can get it ready earlier than that. We might have the option to stay at my parents house until then.

However, what do we do about our mail? Can we put it on a vacation hold and then put in an address change request once we know what date the new place will be ready?

You should be able to have it held at the post office till your new adress goes in effect. It's better than sending it to your parents and then yet another adress...the least amount of changes, the better.

They can hold mail for up to 30 days I think? Not sure exact amount of time.
