In the past, I've stayed at apartments for at least 2 years before moving to a different part of the state or a different part of the country.

In the first three weeks, I feel like I've had more problems than I did at my other neighborhoods and I'm certain that things will be better if I moved (because I will be moving to better areas, if I choose to do so. I know this for sure, because I'll do enough research before packing).

Does one year sound like it's too soon to be moving again? I know people who have done it, but it was when they were in school. This is not for school.

I've left an apartment for a different part of town or city. If you know the area isnt right, them why wait and be miserable for another year

Nope, not too soon at all. I have done this three times, once not by choice (closing apartment building down) another because the neighbor and management were so bad, I moved ASAP. The other time was just to get into a larger and better apartment for the same price in the DC area.

I think one year is a reasonable trial. If the neighborhood is changing and becoming more dangerous, move on without looking back.

yes i have and i get teased about it, i move for the reason that i want something better, different, change of envirornment, or the place i rented is terrible. i am only obligated for the year i signed the lease.

a lot of people think thats crazy/wrong/startling/etc. but some people dont want to move and would rather settle than go thru another move. maybe its too much for them. but their life and wants are not mine.

so do what you want as long as you stay for as long as your lease is and then you are free to go as you see fit. dont do what others expect of you. do wnat you want.
