Hello Everyone,
We will be moving from LA to houston in the mid of June . We just came to knew yesterday so we have a very limited time. I would like to know what moving companies are reliable. We have a 2 bedroom house with a limited garage storage plus 2 cars to move with us. What should I look into moving companies to avoid the extra cost or any scam. Also any tips for packing our stuff in this short time.
Thanks

Throw out, throw out. Pods is significantly cheaper. Figure 3000-3500 for a mover. Cars will cost about $600-700 each to ship. Best is if you can pull a car carrier behind one of the cars and avoid shipping.

If you use a commercial mover, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING has to be boxed or wrapped.
Get your boxes from Home Depot - cheaper. Lowes is next. UHaul has specialty boxes but more pricy.

Have you considered going UHaul or Penske truck? Going across the i-10 run will be hot (take plenty of water, etc).

Good luck and welcome to Texas.

We don't want to drive as we figure it out that it will be really hot and we will be traveling with 2 kids and a senior citizen. As I saw from different post ABF-Upack is looking nice but expensive.

Pods are larger than ABF Upack. About twice the size. You can hire a crew on each end to help you pack.

I have never heard of a pod being larger than the ABF U-Pack trailer (we are speaking a tall trailer here!). If you have the space for the trailer to be dropped off (and it can be parked for however long you want since you are packing it), we loved this option. But you need to have the space in your current area plus near your future home (or you will be transporting your belongings to/from the trailer using some other method).

In regards to the pods, you need to double-check that the pods are available for you, again depending on where you are currently located and where you plan to move. I would think LA and Houston would be considered in their area, but it can't hurt to check.

Get pricing now and book it as soon as you make a decision. We put off making a decision for a few days in regards to ABF and the price went up by about $200.
