I had a friend who had Luck "tattooed" over his entire body. Even in the worst recession, he could move somewhere and Bingo! A job surfaces for him!
Let's not overlook the luck factor. Review your history. If it's always been a struggle to find a good job, then stay put and be patient!
In a more recent Forbes magazine, billionaires were asked what factors contributed to their success, and one of the factors was luck! You either have it or you don't!

I agree. I also agree with the op that Minnesota can be depressing in the winter. When you long for something else, you have to be able to sacrifice to achieve your goals sometimes.
I've lived in Minnesota most of my life but winter does depress me. I am finally retiring and will be moving somewhere, probably Tennessee, in the spring. I will sacrifice one more winter of depression (one boss thinks I have SAD and I agree) and save as much as possible these months until I move there. No extra anything until I move. I'm waiting for spring because I want the leisure of warm weather to start my apartment search.
