I need to travel from Rockland County New York to Miami FL in 4 and one-half days. Any suggestions on how to break up the trip in managable bites. 6 hours is the most I can drive in one shot. Would like to cross the Chesapeak Bay Bridge and avoid DC Traffic if possible.
Instead of adding extra time and mileage to the trip to avoid DC traffic, I would advise timing your trip to avoid rush hours. Six hours in one shot - does that mean 6 hours without stopping? Or 6 hours per day?
Leaving Rockland County at 8:00am would put you in the DC metro area around 12:00pm, keep hitting 95 South and stop outside of Richmond (I'd suggest just south of the city). That's roughly a 6 hour stretch and you'll avoid our rush hours.
Hi David, I usually take 95 take a break at south of the border or one of the hotels close by. next day I'm good to go...hope that helps....Debby Wood
