Hi,

I am trying to decide on which truck to use to move my things from a 3 bedroom condo (1408 sq feet).
These are the big items I will have :

1. 1 Credenza - (4 cabinet door)
2. 1 Half size Credenza ( 2 door)
3. 1 Dining table with 4 chairs
4. 1 Sofa ( 3 seat)
5. 1 Love seat
6. 1 Coffee table
7. 1 Dresser (3 Rows X 3 columns) total 6 draws + Mirror
8. 1 Chest draw ( 5 drawers high)
9. 1 Dresser ( 3 X 2)
10. 2 End table with 2 drawers
11. Treadmill
12. Computer table
13. Full size Washer/ Dryer
14. Queen and Full size bed with just the box, mattress and iron raillings (No headboard/footboard)
15. Tube TV

I will have probably 10 medium boxes and 15 large boxes as well to pack my clothes, kitchen items and 3 large suitcases. The number of boxes is just an estimate. My question is whether all of this will be good for a 24 feet Budget truck or do I need to go for a bigger (26 feet) truck?

Thanks,

How well can you pack/stack?
If in doubt go bigger.

Packing wont be an issue. I will have movers to help me load the truck.

If the cost is comparable, I would always choose to go bigger.

I have gone ahead with the Budget truck. Now shopping for movers. Anyone had a good experience hiring the movers listed by Uhaul?

Unfortunately I don't have a great back and my friend will be driving the truck. We may switch in between, so to take the stress of moving..decided to go with movers. I will have probably 20 small boxes and may be 4 big boxes + 3 suitcases and we are on the 3rd floor.

Thanks a lot for that. We moved earlier with a 17 ' truck and the mover ran off after leaving the treadmill, TV and dining table behind for us to move. When we did the move on the 17', we didnt have the chest draw, credenza and dresser.

Last year I moved a packrat container to TN from CA.

In CA I knew local guys that work loading moving trucks, so I used them on a day they were not scheduled to work to load.

In TN I did not know anyone, so I called a local based moving company and hired them to unpack the stuff. They did have a minimum of 3 hours and were locally based, and did that for a living. (NOT a brokered deal.) They were VERY good. In the future I would go that route again. Look in the phone book, yes the good old hard copy ones, and hire some one with a street address near your home/new home.
