My husband wants to move from Florida to Ohio. He moved here 7 years ago and I have lived here my whole life. We would be moving away from my family and closer to his. Pros and cons?

Pros: Moving is an adventure! And, you would have a happy husband. There's a lot to be said for that.

Cons: It's cold up there! Also, you might end up spending more time with his family and less with yours, than you might prefer. But you could fly down to Florida now and then, too.

Too many variables. But, cost of living should be less. Climate very different. Different culture and amenities.

List your family needs. Jobs, housing, etc.
List your must haves. Big yard, good schools.
List your high wants. Close to shopping, special interests.
List your no ways. Long commute, etc.

Then list what you have already that does and doesn't meet your lists.

Then list what you will get or lose by moving.

Then talk. A lot.

The economy in many parts of Ohio is bad and getting worse. I moved from there two years ago and doubled my income.

Don't even think of moving there, unless you or he has a totally secure job.

Review costs and belonging. It cost us $5900 to utilize a moving company, $315 no? to store, $1800 no to temporarily rent ( all utilities included). $200 for motels, $100 for food and $100 for original packing
materials ( tape and styrofoam some boxes and locks) Most boxes from Walmart and General Dollar
( free. ..250 boxes) 'After donating 70% of all our furniture we still had 16 k lbs of STUFF! Gas from Wisconsin to NC $120.00 .

I'm leaving Ohio next Friday after 36 years of living here. I'm done with this weather and the job market sucks unless you're in the medical field (which I am; I just can't stand the weather anymore). I'll miss my family and the leaves changing color, but this snow and cold can get bent.

Tell him to move then.
You stay in Florida with your family.
He'll be back, I'll make a bet, by January of next year.
My hubby wants to move to Colorado.
I tell him, go right ahead. Have fun.
Seriously, I can't stand cold anymore.
I'm staying put, or at least where it is warm in the winter.

Where we live in FL now the cost of living is pretty crazy. We are barely able to survive as it is. I've thought about moving north before but I am not sure how logical it is.

Does anyone have a job lined up in Ohio?
