I thought it would be fun to get an idea of how many boxes other people need for a move. But there are so many things that could affect that, like how many people in the household, how big the place was, and so on. So I included some more questions, too:

(1) How many people in the household?
(2) How many years in the home you moved from?
(3) how big was the house or apartment you were moving from? Square feet? bedrooms?
(4) how big was the house or apartment you were moving to? Square feet? bedrooms?
(5) local move? Interstate move?
(6) How many boxes did you need for this move?

Here are my answers and I'll be interested to read yours.

(1) How many people in the household? One, just me.
(2) How many years in the home you moved from? 13 years
(3) how big was the house or apartment you were moving from? Square feet? bedrooms? 1500 square feet, 3 bedrooms
(4) how big was the house or apartment you were moving to? Square feet? bedrooms? 1500 square feet, 2 bedrooms
(5) local move? Interstate move? local, just 3 miles
(6) How many boxes did you need for this move? 42-43 boxes total. I have 40 boxes packed, and I still need to pack a few last minute things like bedding, coffee pot, computer, and a few clothes.

I don't know how two people amassed so much stuff. We donated 24 boxes of stuff to local thrift store.

Being in a large house for so many years, that doesn't seem like too many! I have fewer but there is only one of me, in a much smaller house for only 13 years.

I have to admit that packing just 40 was so exhausting, that I am really glad I didn't have more. I don't think I could have done it! To me that is quite an accomplishment.
