What do you like to do? Or what would you like to learn?
Some ideas, just to get you started:
- Attend church activities (you don't have to be a member to go!)
- Build houses with Habitat for Humanity
- Volunteer at an animal shelter
- Attend book discussions at the library or book store
- Take a cooking class (foreign food, holiday dinners, whatever)
- Volunteer to set up and tear down chairs/tables for city concerts / art fests
- Volunteer to help clean up along a river or metro park
- Get on a team (bowling, pickle ball -- seniors play the latter)
- Join a sewing or craft group
- Volunteer with a local political party or other cause
- Take a class at a college, community college, or the Y (something academic, yoga, or . . . ?)
- Join a gym
- Go online and start a meet-up -- one lady liked to sketch and do watercolor at parks and invited others to do the same -- about ten people showed up one Saturday!
- Go to a wine tasting event
There's plenty of other things . . . check the activity sections of the local newspapers as well as Facebook, meet-up pages, etc.
