I agree with the others that recommend the gulf coast states, especially Florida since you're wanting more of a tropical climate. You'll get warmth in Phoenix or Tucson, but not tropical.

Where you live is all about economics first, being happy second. Find a city with good economic base that you can find a job quickly and switch jobs if you have too. Then consider the weather. Consider Texas since it's has a good job base. Houston comes to mind. Florida? Well...two main industries, old people (God's waiting room) and tourists. Lower wage scale unless you get a good degree or skill.

I grew up in the Northeast, Ohio, and feel your pain with the weather.

Exactly! Found a brand new sr. apt complex that offered all the amenities and in a safe area; the deal breaker was that it was out in the boonies and the lowest cost Medicare Advantage Plan or even Supplemental plan was over $200! Have to be careful about what is offered in various regions (and the zip code determines the cost).

I hate the winter with a passion. I miss summer already.
I'm searching for a big city that's comparable to the size of Chicago. Chicago has so much to offer and it will always be my favorite but I can't stand our brutal winters so I'm considering moving in the future.
I want a warm city that's vibrant, full of life and entertainment for young people. I visited Miami and it was lovely so I'm definitely considering that.
I don't want a place that overly expensive because I'm not rich, but Chicago's prices are so high on everything already, I highly doubt that there's cities that are extremely higher on cost of living. I would like to find a place that has job opportunities so it won't be difficult to find work.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
