How to get a couch downstairs? (job, furniture, moved, roommate)

I just moved into a new place with the rec room in the basement. I am having an issue with getting my loveseat through the narrow door. The feet of the couch do not come off. The door is 29 inches. My couch is 31 inches height and 35 inches wide.
I have attempted a few times to get the couch through the door but its left a mark on the door frame and wall. I don't want to damage anything so I am thought I seek some help here. I have removed the door off its hinges to allow for maximum space for the loveseat.
The previous owners had a large leather sectional couch in the basement and in comparison, my loveseat is a lot smaller. So I am thinking that there has to be a better way to get this job done.

We have done a few of those by removing a large window, and dropping it out and down with ropes held to keep it from going too fast. Then go in a larger entry door. With 3 or better yet 4 people it goes smoothly.
Basement= sectionals. You have to be able to move it out later. A wide board with a towel--place furniture on and slide carefully down the stairwell.
Around corners & doorways, think of sofa as a c. Place on side & ease arm around the doorway perhaps slightly lifting to wiggle through. The back of sofa may cause you problems if too high. Always remove door from hinges and sometimes trim work to avoid potential damage.
Several years ago we had friends that had a similar problem. They sawed off the feet of the couch and reattached them later with screws and wood glue. They had no other options. Not the ideal solution, but it worked.
Do your future self a favor and don't put furniture down there that can't be easily removed.
Instead of a couch, consider a comfy recliner than comes apart or a narrow futon. Consider air beds if guests will be sleeping on that couch.
Ah, yes. I had a roommate who decided to move his couch down to the finished basement. After a hideous struggle he got it onto the stairway and down to the bottom.....and could not get it through the door there which was narrower.
He had to saw it in two and take the two pieces out to the curb for the trash collectors.
