I'm hoping to schedule a moving company to load my stuff (already packed) into their truck by this thursday or friday... that's 3-4 days from now.

Would they be available in that time slot, or do I have to give them weeks notice?

It's done. They took my stuff yesterday and I'm leaving the DC area tomorrow morning.

Some companies like mine specialize in meeting the needs of customers with short notice / last minute moving needs. Typically a moving customer will call in the first week of the month, to schedule their move for the last few days of the month, or the first few days of the following month.

In the last few days of the month customers will typically call looking for same day service or next day service, only to find the moving company is booked up.

If you want a specific company to do your move, schedule your move way ahead of time. You will always be able to find a mover on short notice. However , the longer you wait the less likely you are going to get a good mover, and the more likely you are going to be frustrated.
